Two of Australia’s most prominent emerging musicians, Chris Howlett and Hoang Pham come together in an exploration of works for cello and piano. This formidable duo will carry you on a journey through the classical genius of Brahms, Schubert and Onslow during this evening of fine music.
Chris Howlett is a cellist, festival director and producer. He studied cello in Vienna with Howard Penny, London with Richard Lester and at the Australian National Academy of Music where he completed his studies in 2009. As a chamber musician Howlett holds one of the busiest schedules in Melbourne performing regularly in Festivals, throughout Asia and with Melbourne Piano Trio with over fifty recitals a year. Chris has also performed concerti with both symphonic and chamber orchestras in Milan, Rome, Paris, Estonia and Melbourne.
Featured in Limelight’s 30 Brilliant Musicians Under 30, Hoang Pham is one of our country’s finest concert pianists. He has won top awards in Australia including Best Australian Pianist at the Sydney International Competition, First Prize at the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition and was the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year in 2013.
