For this solo concert Barney McAll draws on spiritual harmonies he learned playing in the African–American church for a decade, blended with slow meditative ambiences, in a unique and uplifting experience. He will also be playing his self-made instrument ‘Chucky’ which adds ambient celestial textures to his unique musical palette.
Grammy nominated pianist, keyboardist, composer and arranger, McAll grew up in Melbourne and moved to New York City in 1997 after being invited to join the Gary Bartz Quartet. Today he continues to tour internationally with Bartz, in addition to Fred Wesley and the JB’s, and Josh Roseman.
McAll has also performed/toured with major US artists Kurt Rosenwinkel, Maceo Parker, Jimmy Cobb, Eddie Henderson and Dewey Redman, as well as leading his own ensembles.
