The Kew Call Out - Chris Russell's Chicken Walk | Mick Thomas & the Roving Commission | Nick Barker

  • Kew RSL 63 Cotham Road Kew, VIC, 3101 Australia (map)

Dave Folley plays drums with a lot of people. He plays with David Bridie, Archie Roach, Tex Perkins and Suzannah Espie. He is in Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission and The Killjoys.

So when his three and a half year old son Frankie was diagnosed with a serious cancer a couple of months back, there was an overwhelming motion of support from the music community in this town (and nationally) wanting to do what they can to help Dave and his partner Rachael Tidd - and of course young Frankie - as they embark upon a protracted and daunting course of treatment.

To accommodate the small army of acts wanting to play, the Kew RSL has been booked all five Sundays in May. That’s five Sundays with three bands each day! It’s a family friendly affair and there will be sausages sizzling and some raffles with some neat prizes donated by the acts themselves and some of the hotels where Dave Folley plies his trade.

The series of events are called the Kew Call-Out. All performances, production, advertising and organisation have been offered in kind by a community of musicians, suppliers and a team of behind-the-scenes workers. Now the call out is on and the music loving public are
encouraged to get on board by booking tickets to one or all of the gigs.
