‘This group of young musicians has a collective wisdom and maturity which is singularly impressive… Affinity Collective is a musical force with which to be reckoned.’ (Richard Gill OAM)
Affinity Collective performs the complete cycles of String Quartets by Benjamin Britten and Andrzej Panufnik over two concerts in the stunning acoustics of the Court House.
Winners of the 2015 Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) Chamber Music Competition, this burgeoning ensemble represents the next generation of Australian music making. Affinity Collective returned to Melbourne in May 2016 from a European tour assisted by a Development Grant from the Australia Council for the Arts and private sponsorship via the Australian Cultural Fund.
This talented bunch performs with the Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, the Sydney Chamber Opera and as casual musicians with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Individually, in 2015 they were prize-winners and finalists in the ANAM Concerto Competition, Symphony Australia ABC Young Performers Awards, Australian Youth Classical Music and Kendall National Violin Competition. In June 2016, Zoe Freisberg attended the prestigious Banff Centre Master Classes for Strings.
They are seriously hot right now.
